SEO/SEM Specialist (Expresia)

Full-time position at 40 hrs/week

Hiring office: Vancouver, Canada Location: Remote - Americas & Europe (or 2 - 4 hours or more of overlap with 8 AM-4 PM PST.)


As a contributing member of the Expresia marketing team, the position is responsible for managing our SEO/SEM strategy and initiatives based on business growth, key performance metrics, and digital marketing needs.

The SEO/SEM Specialist is the subject matter expert for digital marketing-related growth. The specialist works closely with Expresia’s marketing team and Backbone’s (parent company) sales and marketing teams to create and evaluate campaigns and content performance, develop KPIs, and ultimately translate these activities into actionable business results and recommendations.

Qualities/Expertise needed
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Marketing, Advertising or a related field.
  • Clear and current understanding of inbound marketing fundamentals: SEO/outreach, content marketing, analytics, social media, and community building.
  • Familiarity with tactical aspects of key digital marketing efforts: SEM, SEO, email marketing, social media, and digital media buys.
  • At least two years of experience running SEM and/or SEO efforts in the software space.
  • Highly skilled in ideation, design and prototyping tools (Miro, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or other design tools).
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication with cross functional teams to identify pain points, opportunities and outcomes.
  • Strong grasp on data analysis to draw conclusions and build recommendations.
  • Outstanding ability to think creatively and identify and resolve problems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management and time management skills.
  • Excels in a remote-first, writing-based culture of freedom and responsibility.
  • Strong command of business English (B2 or higher).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a growth strategy within our web presence using SEO/SEM to drive demand and help grow revenue for Expresia and our customers.
  • Create, implement and continuously optimize online advertising campaigns to drive continued growth in a high-performing marketing channel.
  • Review and analyze company and clients’ sites for areas of improvement.
  • Ensure accurate conversion tracking and attribution.
  • Provide SEO analysis and recommendations in coordination with elements and structure of websites and web pages.
  • Manage outreach and link-building efforts to drive visibility within search engines.
  • Work closely with creative and content teams to improve site performance and conversions.
  • Prepare data sets, recommendations, analyzes and reports for the purpose of optimizing activities.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of marketing automation tactics and tools.
  • Cooperate with other departments and external suppliers in relation to marketing efforts.
  • Conduct ongoing, detailed competitive analysis and produce documentation regarding competitors’ strengths and weaknesses with regards to their performance marketing efforts.
