The Challenge

Backbone was appointed to redesign Kafsis’ website with the aim to engage their clients more meaningfully as well as communicate their vision and values more effectively. Initially, the website structure was unclear, the user experience was not responsive, and the visuals were uninspiring. Moreover, the absence of clear call-to-actions were inhibiting Kafsis ability to leverage its web presence to engage customers effectively, generate new business, and differentiate themselves amongst their competitors.

Having spent the time to understand Kafsis’ unique challenges, the team was poised to deliver a set of specific business outcomes – one of which included the transformation of the former, corporate website into a business tool extending a powerful digital experience, incorporating relevant content and self-service capabilities to targeted user groups.


Overhauling the site map and user experience was essential in order to provide specific user groups easy access to the information they were looking for. Consequently, online forms were specifically created to enable farmers, for example, to register their animal by-products and specify their requirements with Kafsis. Once the farmer filled out the online form, a representative would promptly follow up and convert them into a potential customer.

The Outcome

The online forms functionality was scaled-up, allowing online visitors to demonstrate their support and donate for a cause that Kafsis has been deeply committed to – raise public awareness and money dedicated to reforestation efforts. The collective approach empowered Kafsis to generate more value from its reinvigorated web presence and brought them a step closer to realize its ultimate vision of creating a safer and cleaner environment.
