A Dual-Domain Digital Transformation

As the Group evolved beyond a traditional automotive business, its digital presence no longer reflected its scale, complexity, or ambitions. Backbone partnered with Sfakianakis Group to design and build a unified digital ecosystem that could support both corporate communication and high-performance customer journeys.

The Challenge

Sfakianakis Group was operating within a fragmented digital landscape made up of legacy systems, multiple microsites, and overlapping content responsibilities. The existing website attempted to function simultaneously as a corporate presence and a retail platform, resulting in unclear navigation, diluted messaging, and operational inefficiencies.

At the same time, the Group’s identity had outgrown the perception of a traditional car dealer. Sfakianakis needed to clearly communicate its role as a modern mobility provider while supporting complex business operations across brands, regions, and services.

Our Approach

Backbone delivered an AI-augmented, API-first solution built on Expresia, our proprietary Digital Experience Platform designed for complexity at scale.

Technical Foundation: Expresia

At the heart of both websites lies Expresia—a headless DXP that provides:

  • Seamless multi-site management: Group and Automotive websites operate independently yet share a single CMS and infrastructure.
  • Role-based publishing workflows: Empowering the Sfakianakis teams to control content per brand, division, or geography.
  • AI-ready structure: Laying the groundwork for personalization, lead scoring, and future automation.

Automated Vehicle Inventory & Pricing

We integrated with the client’s internal inventory systems and third-party dealer feeds via custom-built APIs that:

  • Fetch new and used vehicles in real-time.
  • Sync features, pricing, financing plans, and promotional offers automatically.
  • Enable filtered browsing by make, model, price, availability, location, or service status.

This eliminated the need for manual listing updates and reduced time-to-market for new stock.

Interactive Locations Engine

We developed an intuitive, interactive map and location directory, giving users the ability to:

  • Search by location or use geolocation
  • Filter by services (sales, service, test drive, rental)
  • View detailed contact information, hours, and brand presence

 

This significantly reduced customer friction and improved offline conversion points.

A Cohesive Corporate Identity

For the corporate site, we designed a sleek, modern interface that:

  • Showcases the full scope of Sfakianakis’ subsidiaries
  • Hosts investor information, ESG policies, and financials
  • Supports multilingual capabilities for international audiences
  • Presents the Group as digitally mature and future-ready

The Outcome

The launch of the new Sfakianakis digital ecosystem marked a foundational shift in how the Group operates online.

Beyond performance improvements, the transformation successfully repositioned Sfakianakis from a traditional dealer network to a modern mobility solutions provider.
